Battery rooms keep the build-up of hydrogen and chemicals separate from the main building. Charging and using lead acid batteries produces hydrogen gas which poses an explosion risk above 4% vol. Ventilation is recommended to maintain hydrogen gas below 2% vol. Ventilation failure can cause a build-up of hydrogen gas therefore an alarm from a hydrogen monitoring system is recommended.
